Gudauri is both a village and ski resort in Georgia. It belongs to the municipality of Stepantsminda and is located on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountain range near the Cross Pass. An interesting fact is, that in 1987 in the village lived only 10 people.
Today it is actively developing winter resort. Season skiing begins in December and lasts until April. In winter, there falls a lot of snow, its thickness can reach 1.5 meters. There are two stations that are connected to the lifts. The resort is perfect for both experienced athletes and beginners lovers.
Besides skiing, the resort has to offer and other entertainment. Among them there is a school of snowboarding and paragliding can be done paragliding, snowkiting and the school has for freeriding and much more. Regarding freeriding, it is very fond of, because the terrain without vegetation is very convenient for this sport. The resort started its development even during 1975-1985, its construction and arrangement lasts even today.
How to get to Gudauri
Get in Gudauri can be plane. They depart from Tbilisi , Kutaisi, Vladikavkaz. There are also private companies that provide transportation of customers, and if the transfer is referenced in both directions at once, you expect a little surprise from the company in the form of local wine and chacha. There are also shuttle buses that carry passengers to the resort it. But you can also use conventional public transport, it also takes you to the village. Hence to Tbilisi - 120 km and 2 hours` drive away.
